Upfront I have always been a GFK fan. But, sometimes fans are the harshest critics. But, but, I am not going to be harsh towards this album since I legitimately like it.....alot. Sample 420 and Curtis May are standouts to me, honestly tho there are 4-5 other songs that if someone said they were the best on the album I wouldn't argue. It always bug me out that PMD (Rosenberg not the EPMD one) who made a song about throwing cheese on chicks is also on a Ghostface album. I said a few weeks ago if Supreme Clientele 2 had a lot of Ghostface doing Ghostface things, it was going to be good. And it is.
DJ Premier produced albums are always going to get a high score from me. Solid Album....no classics but a bunch of really good songs. Armani Section & RocMarkable are my favorites but def worth a full listen and figure out your own.
When I see a new album from an all-time great artist I really want it to be good. It has to be hard to balance still creating the sound that makes you an all-time great and also not have it sound super old and dated. Rakim & Big Ghost LTD accomplished exactly that with The RE-UP. This 8 song to me has 7 really good songs and 1 good song. "Be Ill" & "Love is the Message" are my favorite to. But you should support the God MC and check this album out.
